JH Sayyar's Sonnets

248
Let us divide our love among unloved on the way,
Yea! None throws love full rays to that ugly face
Charity: the poor’s right we must happily pay,
And with our holy eyes at them we all must gaze,
Love like a fine glass exposes her glorious rays,
But reflects the painted beauty with double face,
Hidden from the eyes, the secrets, I do amaze,
Then love spreads on earth new love to trace,
I do accept you with stains in hope to mend,
Your all evils, but I do fail in my holy aim,
Women’s nature more mighty, change your trend
But I fail to correct them, alas! I openly do claim

I trust woman’s love but not her natural fault,
That changes earthly things as mountain salt
